On the Stands

This month, the newstands are covered with reel sistas gracing the covers of some of the top magazines out there.

My FAVORITE reel sista Gabrielle Union is on the cover of Vegas Magazine.
In the article she discusses everything from her divorce to her love of shoes. In the article she also talks about the dilemna of many black actresses in Hollywood…the lack of diverse roles. But Gabrielle does have her standards. In the article she states:

“Generally the kind of roles I get are ballsy, hard-ass, sexy but intellegent. You have to not have verb-noun agreement to be the bimbo, and I just can’t do that.”

Jada Pinkett Smith is on the cover of the Spring issue of Be E Magazine.

One of the hardest working women in Hollywood, Jada talks about her directorial debut, Human Contact and being a “multiple threat” like her mentor Debbie Allen. Jada states:

“Debbie was one of the first women who set a benchmark for me. She produced, directed, danced, sang, acted and wore all those hats. She made me realize as a young women that I could do the same–be a multiple threat.”

One of my rising reel sistas is Lauren London (aka “Nu Nu” for all my ATL fans). This month she is on the cover of one of my FAVORITE magazines, Jewel. For those of you who don’t know about Jewel, check it out soon…it’s a great magazine.

Inside, Lauren, who was last seen in This Christmas talks about the internet rumors, love and her Golden Girls obsession.

Mariah Carey graces the cover of the April issue of Allure Magazine.

The reel sista in the making and all the time Diva has a new album set to be released in April. Also, Mariah will soon be seen in the Malcolm Lee directed film Tennessee. According to the article by Brooke Hauser, Mariah is also attached to the film adaptation of the book Push.

I hope everyone has a Happy Easter. Keep Shining!
